Video's and the story from 11/07 called "Mad As Hell #2 : Australian people dump corporate Gov. In favor of Labor and what's important here"

Ronald Regan once said "I believe that in both spirit and substance , our tax system has come to be unAmerican"

All the way back in November of 2007, I wrote an article at Union Review that, aw hell here's the entire thing.

Mad As Hell #2 : Australian people dump corporate Gov. In favor of Labor and what's important here - 11/25/07
Note: I'm As Mad As Hell #1 - "The Part That Big Media Left Out !!!" is at the bottom of every page here at Joe's Union review

In a carbon-copy of the USA's wholesale sell off of the American worker in favor of corporate rulership , the people of Australia , who have faced their own War Against The Workers, have said "enough is enough".

The Liberals*, also known as the coalition, used Fear as the biggest tactic against Labor, fear of unions , fear of terrorism, immigrants, etc. . Even the distribution of fake handouts which stated that ""Labor*" supports terrorism" didn't discourage the masses to flock to the polls to oust the now-former conservative regime. Heres what the conservatives did against unions in 2005

FROM: MR Zine

"...2005 legislation that dramatically undermined workers' rights to organize and forced them onto individual contracts. The new law banned 'pattern bargaining' (industry-wide campaigns) and deciding on industrial action at mass meetings. It restricted union officials' access to members at work and abolished the prohibition of unfair dismissals."

Sounds like todays NLRB to me.

Only time will tell if Australia will be better off , here in the states where we decide the lesser of two evils, where whoever is elected it seems "we the people", the working class people , get screwed. To what degree is something we could debate forever (Who signed NAFTA? Under what presidency did deregulation of industry start? Who fired the Air-Traffic controllers? Who's NLRB are we under today?) . We head into our elections hoping a democratic presidency will change that, I only hope that it will be true.

We need a party for the working people not just the lesser of two evils, a party that views the Constitution as law , a party that will not give away the final "gasp" of American industry, one that will support "fair" trade not "free" trade, one that will view the American people as people, not just consumers and pawns in todays global economy. We need to become "We the people", not just "We the consumer"

Unfortunately, we have been bushwhacked (no pun intended) to believe, by the elections in Florida, that all of our voting standards are flawed , but that just isn't the case, or at least not a good enough reason to go to electronic voting (using a computerized polls to vote in an election) . If you are on a computer now, you know how easy it is to be hacked, get a virus or any other security risk at hand .

What makes the powers that be think that 'we the people" want any form of electronic voting? Why would we want any form of voting whereby there cannot be a hard copy recount , where rigging could be as simple as a math problem on a calculator? Just take a looksie at YouTube and the Voting Machine Hacks (seems YouTube is down at the moment, maybe they got Hacked) , most interesting of which is this testimony. Who decides who gets the contract to use the software on these machines? An interesting note is that We The People - a Foundation who's mission is to protect and defend individual Rights as guaranteed by the Constitutions of the United States - has filed suit against electronic voting claiming in part "computerized voting machines, are unconstitutional because they are ripe for fraud and error and effectively hide the physical vote counting process from the public, effectively denying citizens their legally protected Right to cast an effective vote.".

The fight is now, to make sure we do have a choice in the future, communicate information to others, end the war on the working people in the USA. Make sure those who wish to be in office are informed that we are mad, informed and that we are united. The world should be a place where life should be easier for the masses through innovations and inventions. Where things should be made better , not just throw away junk . Where we shouldn't be sicker and should live longer. What has happened? We are sicker, we pay the same for shoddy products, we buy poison food and toys from places we jettisoned our industrial jobs to, we work harder for less, we have less options for work , we have rampant illegal immigration (slave labor), we have a nation divided through fear, language and religion , we are closer to catastrophic loss of everything we own in a dire emergency then during the depression, we are a nation addicted to drugs for heart burn, erections and sleep disorders who ask our doctors what they think of medicines with commercials we pay for, we can be withheld by authorities and everything we 'own' can be taken for no reason at all, we are a nation of sheep blindly being led to slavery through creditors , mortgages and loans , a nation where our labor is taxed seemingly without representation (Ronald Regan once said "I believe that in both spirit and substance , our tax system has come to be unamerican") .

If one were to look at the current state of affairs , to look beyond the lies , half-truths and misinformation, one would think that we live in the world Ray Bradbury saw in Fahrenheit 451 , the futuristic world where Guy Montag the lead characters wife sits in her living room interacting with her 3 walls of television without a care in the world, while Montag who is a futuristic fireman in a world where everything is non-flammable, books are restricted, individuals are anti-social and hedonistic, and critical thought is suppressed. Montag's job is to burn books. Are we really that far off ?

Anyone who has showed up here at UnionReview a few times already knows that Net Neutrality can and will be used for information suppression . Just the basic fact that the ilk such as Rick Berman, the creator of the anti-union "center for union facts" , has been signed on in support of the corporate agenda is tell tale that there is a huge lobbying effort to suppress our freedom of internet information. The same companies that run TV, Radio and Cable want to control everything even on the internet. Check out and get active on www.SaveTheInternet.com, do it if only for the sake that you can still view this site, for the fact that we can still have a free voice over our concerns of the working class, that yes free speech is alive and well.

Well like all stories I write, this one, unfortunately, has come to an end.

*Please note that the 2 main parties in AUS. are "Liberal" which is the conservative party and sympathies with corporations and "Labor" which is somewhat to the left, has quite a few candidates who are Union and is more for the working class.

Dear Joe,

Have you experienced the high cost of health care, the complexity of health insurance, or a problem with your care itself?

Help us take an in-depth look at all aspects of our health care system. Use this simple form to tell us your story, and we will follow up with you personally for more details.

Your story matters to us and to policymakers as we all move towards a national dialog about real solutions.

New York, support better bottle recycling

New York’s Bottle Bill, passed in 1982, requires a 5-cent refundable deposit on beer and soda containers--but doesn't include water and sports drink bottles. Billions of these containers end up in our landfills. Tell your lawmaker to support a bigger, better bottle bill in this year's budget.

Get the bill to the President next week!
Both the House and the Senate passed strong bills to fix our broken product safety system. It was a huge victory for you and your family. And yet the final bill hasn't gone to the President for signature yet. No more delays! Tell your lawmakers to send a strong bill to the President next week.

Share your credit card story!
Has a credit card company recently raised your rate, slapped you with penalty fees, increased your credit limit then claimed you were a higher risk? Have you tried to get a handle on your rights and no one will give you a straight answer? We want to hear about your experience!

Tired of all those drug ads?
One of you suggested that TV drug ads should have a 1-800 number to report side effects. A great idea, and we jumped on it. Sign on to this petition to the FDA and we will deliver all the signatures to the agency next week. Help make your great ideas happen!

Does my doctor know what's best?
Doctors don't have good information about the drugs and treatments that really work best. Drug companies fund many studies--and they don't compare their product with alternatives that might work better. Congress can fund unbiased research, with your support. Help fund unbiased studies!

Prescriptions, don't get mad take action!

Consumers Union - Prescription for Change Safe, effective, affordable prescription drugs.

Tell the FDA what you think about drug ads.
Goal: 50,000 signatures!

prescription drugsFed up with TV ads that sell you the “good news” about prescription drugs but gloss over the shortcomings? Do these drugs actually work? And how common are those side effects?

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will soon decide whether these TV ads should include a toll-free number and web address where you can report side effects or other problems. The drug companies don't like this idea. They don’t want their ads used to help identify potential problems with their products.

But if we have to watch these endless ads, we should at least be able to easily report to the FDA how these medicines really work! Add your name to the FDA petition below.

Take Action - Sign the Petition

Petition for Better Reporting of Drug Side Effects

I support requiring all drug ads to include a 1-800 number and website so citizens can report drug side effects (petition docket 2008P-0012/CP1).

All too often, drug advertisements fail to present the benefits and risks of using prescription drugs in an accurate and balanced way. It is often the newest drugs that are the most heavily advertised, and it is these drugs whose side effects we know the least about.

The current system for collecting information about side effects catches only a fraction of actual cases. The recent law passed to require print drug ads to provide a 1-800 number and website (FDAAA -- P.L. 110-85) is a step in the right direction, but should be extended to include TV ads which are viewed far more frequently and with a greater command of the viewing audience.

Increased reporting of adverse events will help in the earlier detection and better analysis of problems. All television ads should contain information on how patients can report side effects to the FDA.

NY: Senator Schumer takes stand against Chinese made blood thinner, which killed 19 and injured hundreds

I myself have been on blood thinners, I figured since the American public who pays for all the Pharmaceutical testing in creating drugs via the price of drugs here in the states, wouldn't have to worry about factories which are inspected once every 13 years. We pay them to experiment, surly they manufacture the products in the United States. Well, I must have been dreaming, of course they don't reinvest in American worker's, they go off to distant lands to make the shit we are addicted to. Don't worry, as long as you keep asking your doctor about some more crap.

Chuck Schumer fights for people, once again he has taken a stand against "free trade" and toxic substances.

NY Newsday 3-09-08

Spurred by a massive recall of the drug heparin, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said yesterday the federal government should require foreign manufacturers to allow American inspectors to monitor drug factories.

Schumer said he and Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) will soon introduce legislation to increase Food and Drug Administration funding and require the overseas monitoring.

The announcement comes in the wake of the FDA linking 19 deaths and hundreds of injuries in people taking the blood thinner to tainted heparin ingredients imported from China. Schumer said foreign drug factories should be required to meet American standards.

"We would basically say to any country, 'If you're not going to meet our standards, you can't import drugs into our country,'" he said.

Schumer said his proposal would prohibit drug manufacturers from importing their products into the United States unless they allowed FDA inspectors to examine their factories.

Foreign drug factories are examined about once every 13 years, as opposed to once every two years for American drug manufacturers, Schumer said.

Schumer said 80 percent of drugs imported into America are manufactured in China. He said he would have no problem with foreign governments imposing similar requirements on American drug manufacturers.

"Anyone can have rules about drugs imported into their country," he said. "Our factories will meet any standards they have."

Drug Trade Group Spent $22M Lobbying

From: The Houston Chronicle

WASHINGTON — The pharmaceutical industry's main trade group spent more than $22 million lobbying the federal government in 2007, a 25 percent boost from the year before that paid off on some key issues.

Proposals aimed at lowering drug prices and restricting industry advertising fell by the wayside in Congress. But lobbying experts say the road ahead for the industry looks increasingly bumpy.

"This seems to be a case where the increase in lobbying activity is defensive, not offensive," said Massie Ritsch of the Center for Responsive Politics, a government watchdog.... (continuing).

.

The industry trade group advocated against:

_ a proposal by House Democrats that would have allowed the government _ not private health insurers _ to negotiate drug prices for seniors in Medicare. The measure, aimed at wringing lower prices from drug makers, stalled in the House after President Bush threatened to veto it.

_ legislation that would allow the U.S. to import cheaper prescription drugs from Canada and other foreign countries, citing safety concerns. Import proponents said foreign competition would help drive down U.S. drug prices. The issue failed to gain traction in Congress, despite several high-profile hearings.

_ patent-reform legislation that it argued could weaken legal protections on drug patents. High-tech companies supported the bill that passed the House last year aimed at improving the U.S. patent system, but PhRMA argued it could weaken patent protections by reducing infringement penalties. The bill is still pending in the Senate.

_ a bill overhauling the Food and Drug Administration's drug-safety system. The legislation, which became law last September, gave FDA new powers to update drug safety labeling and monitor side effects after drugs are approved.

But the final bill did not include restrictions on direct-to-consumer advertising opposed by the drug industry.

Former Louisiana Rep. Billy Tauzin is the pharmaceutical industry trade group's president and chief executive.

PhRMA's other registered lobbyists include: Mimi Kneuer, who was Tauzin's former chief of staff, Amy Efantis, former legislative director for Rep. Artur Davis, D-Ala., Valerie Jewett, former legislative director for Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, R-N.J., and Matt Sulkala, who was senior legislative assistant to Rep. Allen Boyd, D-Fla.
